This beginner course is for people who have only recently learned to ride a bike and are lacking some of the basic handling skills or confidence to cycle in the neighbourhood, or on hard surface trails. This course occurs on a variety of surfaces, in a safe and comfortable environment for new riders. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, participants will practice fundamental bike handling skills such as balance, braking, steering, and pedaling.
Intermediate level courses expand on the basic skills already displayed by the rider, while also introducing new skills that may be necessary as new types of trail surfaces with / without obstacles are explored. Hazard avoidance, stops and starts on inclines/declines, shifting/steering and braking techniques will be introduced as well.
Expert level instruction expands on concepts learned in the intermediate level course both in terms of the complexity of the skills to be learned and increases in speed in which the rider is able to execute these new skills. Surface rides will be conducted primarily on intermediate+ to expert rated trails here in the river valley area. The course is designed to challenge the rider to take on terrain that has likely not been previously explored.
